June 5, 2017, "God's Moral Compass"

Email to Family and Friends
This week was transfers and over half the Zone got swooped out haha. We had a whole army of missionaries over at our place for a few days. Haha I only saw elder Tucker (my companion)  a few times in those 3 days haha.
I love getting to know all the Elders, haha we have some amazing ones that just came in! Some of the are just absolutely hilarious!!
We have been teaching so many people! It brings so much joy to my heart when I get to see some start to live a commandment and their whole life start to get tremendously better!
It was Brother Bailey ps Birthday a few days ago, he is our Ward Mission Leader. There is literally none better than he. Haha we made some Cherry Brownie Cobbler! So good!

"God's Moral Compass"

I would like to begin my message today with a scripture given to me just this morning by a dear friend. It states "Wherefore, there must be faith; and if there must be faith there must also be hope; and if there must be hope there must also be charity."
"And except ye have charity ye can in nowise be saved in the kingdom of God; neither can ye be saved in the kingdom of God if ye have not faith; neither can ye if ye have no hope."
"And if ye have no hope ye must needs be in despair; and despair cometh because of iniquity." (1)
I say unto you as I say unto all, "wickedness never was happiness" (2) When we sin, we fall short of the glory of God (3). So what is the glory of God? It is intelligence or in other words Light and truth. (4)
Those of you who are fathers and mothers, consider what you try to teach your children. Are not the principles you give to them, the moral compasses that you have seen (in your mortal eyes) bless you and make you happy? As a Father and a Mother you are attempting to show your children how to live a happy and successful life, by teaching them what has brought you your happinesses and your successes in your life.
Now with this in mind let's read the words of King Benjamin, "I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness." (5)
So what are the commandment of God? Simply put, they are our Heavenly Fathers morals, that he lives. And now I will revel to you somewhat of the nature of God. He is our Father (and I say that very literally) and he is a being who has mastered through experience, perfect joy. And his commandments to us are basically the moral and principles that He lives by that give him such joy!
He is our Father, he is our parent. He wants us to be successful and happy as you desire for your posterity. He has been were we are before. He understands and is trying to teach us that our actions = our consequences. That is why we are asked to keep the commandments, not to just simply obey dad because he said to, but so that we may learn and develop into the very essence of who he is and in return receive the consequences of living in such state! Peace in this life, and eternal life in the world to come with an eternal family.
And now considering all of this, I want to briefly explain by the power of the Spirit and under the authority which I have, that "wickedness never was happiness". God has given us a law, that if we sin we cannot return to abide in Gods presence in eternal bliss. So what is sin but simply disobedience, and what is righteousness but obedience. Our Heavenly Fathers commandments are only there to make us free and happy! And it is up to us if we want to live by them.
And again I say unto all that we all sin and fall short of the glory of God, and that is why we were given a Savior, even Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Who can now stand before Father and plead our cause before him saying "Father, behold the sufferings and death of him who did no sin, in whom thou wast well pleased; behold the blood of thy Son which was shed, the blood of him whom thou gavest that thyself might be glorified;"
"Wherefore, Father, spare these my brethren that believe on my name, that they may come unto me and have everlasting life." (6) I declare these truths to all in the Holy and Glorified name of Jesus Christ, amen.
