March 20, 2017, "The Power of Countenance"

Email to Family and Friends
So I forgot to tell you all last week but, the most celebrated holiday in Butte, MT is St. Patrick's Day! Butte is full of descendants of the Irish people, full of Catholics, and has very lossy goosy drinking laws. Haha so it gets pretty crazy here, crazy enough for our Mission President to ask us to stay very low all day and be in the house after dinner. In the morning we had to go to Uptown (basically downtown, but it's up on the hill by the mines so it's called uptown. It's also were all the parting is) and it was just green everywhere!! People were already starting to get drunk at 10:00 in the morning! By 6:30 pm there was thousands of people in Uptown.
So since all 4 of us elders had to be in after dinner, we had our own little St. Pattys day party! A picture will be included :) And no it's not beer, its cream soda haha.
We have been teach Larry Barlow, he is a blast! We stoped by on Tuesday, and the only thing keeping him from getting baptized was smoking. So right be fore we left, we were like "Larry, when do you think you could quit smoking?" He said maybe next Tuesday. That's tomorrow. But he hasn't had a cigarette since we asked him that!! I love that man!

"The Power of Countenance"

Many of us find Isaiah very confusing. I know I have for many years. But as I have been going through the "Isaiah chapters" lately, I made the determination to understand his prophetic words!
I can honestly declare, that through the power of the Holy Ghost, that I am now beginning to understand why Isaiah is the most quoted prophet in the New Testament, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and in the words of modern prophets.
For example, something I have just read is were Isaiah speaks of the latter days and of its wickedness. He states "The show of their countenance doth witness against them, and doth declare their sin" (1) How true are his words! Your very countenance tells the entire world what kind of man or woman you are! You may think you can hide your sins and cover them, but the very look in your eyes is a witness against you.
But in a similar manner it shows our righteousness. The way you walk, the way you talk, through your mannerisms the whole world can identify you as a true disciple of Christ the Lord, and because of that, they will want to be like you.
Brothers and Sisters, cleanse yourself of all ungodliness, cast away your sins that your countenance may shine bright in the presence of the Lord! I love you dearly, may God watch over each and everyone of you. In the sacred name of Jesus Christ, amen.
